Family Stress Busters

 Stress comes in two forms, healthy and unhealthy.  Unhealthy stress in our lives is destructive while healthy stress moves us toward glorifying God.  Faith in the Good News of the Bible removes unhealthy stress from our lives.  This stress resides in us because we are trying to do what God has already done for us.  Consider the following ways that the Gospel breaks up unhealthy stress in our lives:

1. Understand the purpose of trials - Romans 8:28, Psalm 90:15, Job 2:10, Psalm 119:67,75-76
2. Understand the value of patience- Romans 5:3-5, B.B Warfield Faith and Life
3. Correct or train our children but don’t crush their spirit - Proverbs 18:14
4. Learn to live with rest not exhaustion - Psalm 127: 1-2
5. In marriage, do not entertain the possibility of divorce - Malachi 2:16
6. Speak one another’s love language - 5 Love Languages
7. Maintain emotional consistancy - Galatians 5:19-21
8. Reinforce Biblical teaching with discipline - Leviticus 11:22, 1 Pet. 2:11-12
